My name is Rita Rebetskaya. I am a professional dancer, teacher, choreographer, and founder of the Spoon of Sugar dance studio.
I was born in Moscow, Russia. I began practicing artistic gymnastics at a young age and graduated from the school-studio affiliated with the Igor Moiseyev Ballet.
For 15 years, I performed with this renowned dance company around the world
I also graduated from the Theatre Studies Department at GITIS (Russian University of Theatre Arts), worked as a director and choreographer on various projects, and taught gymnastics and ballet at the Ilze Liepa Academy.
In 2021, I moved to Calgary and participated in a professional dance program at Decidedly Jazz Danceworks. I currently work as a ballet, character dance, and physical foundation instructor at both the Alberta Ballet School and University of Calgary.
I invite your children to join our Dance and Performing arts classes

Activities include learning basic ballet positions, practicing ballet exercises and movements, and exploring creative expression through dance.
In class, we explore various dance techniques, practice choreographed routines, and engage in rhythmic exercises that develop both dance skills and performance abilities.
Our creative movement sessions focus on self-expression, flexibility, core strength, and the ability to convey emotions through fluid, modern dance techniques.
Vocal training helps young singers discover their unique voice while developing proper breathing techniques, pitch accuracy, and the confidence to perform - building both musical ability and self-assurance.
Theatre classes inspire children to create original stories, design sets, and strengthen their acting skills, memorization, and expressive speech through collaborative storytelling and performance.
During the academic season (September to May), we organize two performances for our students to share their progress with an audience. The final annual concert takes place on a professional theatre stage.
Performing on stage helps children develop:
● self-expression ● self-confidence ● discipline ● teamwork ● the courage to perform in public
Why should kids perform?
Get Stronger
Enhance strength, flexibility, and balance.
Develop Coordination
Improve grace, posture, and rhythmic abilities.
Build Confidence
Inspire confidence and love of music and movement.
Our main principle is to make learning enjoyable - after all,
"a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down"*
